We had an eventful getaway to Steven's Pass, WA this past weekend. It was Ryanne's first time skiing. We talked about it in advance alot, wore the gear around the house and watched skiing videos all week before our trip. I was anticipating a short trip on the slope, with scared tears and frustration, (understandably for a 3 year old) but what I got was all bravery and excitement. She was awesome!! Ryanne clutched to me as we made our way up the hill on the very high chair lift. I got a little choked up because I was sharing a moment with her that was so meaningful to me. My parents generously supported my love of skiing all my life and I hope to pass along that same experience to my own kids. It had been three years since I have skied due to knee surgeries and pesky kids, but it felt so good to be on the mountain again. Ryanne and I skied down the 'blue' hill twice, she stood straight up in between my legs, feet flat on the ground and held on tight! My quads were screaming the whole way as I snowplowed to keep her safe and at a comfortable pace. It was an experience I will never forget. Eric got to ski on Sunday in gorgeous sunny weather after an overnight snowfall, we are so lucky to have such great mountains near us..Now we have to keep up the momentum and get Finley on boards next year!
